Merlot is the softest of the Bordeaux varieties with rounder tannins and brighter fruit tones. Ours had beautiful smells of new leather, black cherry, and fruity with notes of plum, blueberry jam, and cedar on the palate. Drink this wine with grilled pork tenderloin or lamb with polenta with slightly sweet preserves.
